Note from the artist:

I am inspired by images of and feelings about the natural
world which surround us all, and which I endeavour to
incorporate into my art.
Fuji-san is a natural focus of beauty and spiritualism in
Japanese culture, and I am lucky to be able to see it from
my studio. It is said that if Fuji-san appears in your
first dream of the New Year,
followed by a second dream about hawks, it will bring you
twelve months of good luck. Both feature in this example of
my spherical art, which I and my workshop are happy to
present to you.

富士山（ふじさん、英語表記：Mount Fuji）は日本最高峰の
独立峰で、その優美な風貌は日本国内のみならず日本国外で
も日本の象徴として広く知られている。数多くの芸術作品の
題材とされ、芸術面でも大きな影響を与えた。古来霊峰とさ
れ、山頂部は神聖視された。2013年、関連する文化財群と
ともに「富士山-信仰の対象と芸術の源泉」の名で世界文化
遺産に登録されました。
At 3,776 m, Mount Fuji (Fuji-san in Japanese) is Japan’s
highest mountain.It’s an active volcano, although it hasn’t
erupted since 1708. On 22nd June 2013 its graceful peak,
which is snow-capped for several months of the year, was
added to the World Heritage List as a Cultural Site since,
according to UNESCO,it has “inspired artists and poets and
been the object of pilgrimage for centuries”.
This hand-made gift was crafted by Mieko Noguchi, one
